  • Amber & Escape I love those pics! & Fraggle, Your cat is beautiful.

My husbun is wondering why I just mentioned we NEED to go save a hamster & a doggie from the SPCA.

Husbun: where the heck did that come from... & the answer is: "No"

Wifie Bun: Fine! I'll get a bunny then

Husbun: You don't think your cat will have a problem with that?

Wifie Bun: Naw he could use sum competition for attention!

    ...

Anyways here's a group pick I thought you all might like:

    • Aww, OneBun, I forgot that you have a cat - so that is a big reason for not having a bunny... my big dog's afraid of my dwarf rabbit (yes she's a cowardly pooch - but that's why I love her )

I think that if I would have the time, I would also add a guinea pig into the picture... but I don't think my husband would be able to live with all the noise of a guinea pig (again )

      • I have a 4 year old greyhound called Joey, who I've had for a year and he's sooo funny XD He's a really great dog, energetic, hyper but still likes his comforts aka under the covers on my mums bed :p
I've also got a ferret who I've had for about 4 years called Oddball. I really love ferrets, they're not your common pet

        • That's a very nice combination of pets I'm the same - I always like to have a larger sized dog with a small cuddly creature - I think it creates a nice balance

          • @Fraggle,
Wow, that is indeed a beautiful cat. I bet she is a real sweetheart aswell.

@Amber, I love the pic of the Syrian hamster. I saved it in my pics, maybe I can use it for some kind of report about hamster nutrion in the future. I am studying for paraveterian, just the officially name for a specialiazed vet's assistent.

Btw my cat (he isn't among the living anymore ) was also affraid of my bunny. But my rabbit was also afraid of him.

@Escape, agreed. That is indeed a cuty. *melts*

@OneBun, LOL!! He could use some competition for attention!!!

Btw I remember that that pic has been posted before. And I still have the same comment: Yeah, all my favourite animals together.

@Wait and Bleed, greyhounds are indeed very energetic dogs and very sweet. (well, that are my experiences) I like ferrets very much myself. I worked once in a veterian clinic where one of the vets was specialized in ferrets, so I saw in that time many ferrets every day. Only male ferrets can be quite stubborn to handle. They don't really like to be dominated, well I can't blame them.

            • I did not know that it was a Syrian hamster. This makes me want to investigate into hamster breeds more since I think they are so cute. I had two when I was younger and one ran away (somehow ).

I know, somehow animals can be mutually afraid of one another, which is very interesting. I'm also studying about animals and their behaviour, such as learning and conditioning. I bet what you are learning is fascinating - physicians must learn about one type of organism, but those studying veterinary medicine, must know about all sorts of species. I'm amazed at how people do it.

Here is another cute one (I don't know what breed though, maybe also Syrian ):

P.S. The "Syrian" hamster reminds me of that game called "Hopping Ham's Adventure" and in one of them, he goes to Syria (and I finally know why! )

              • Okay....I must admit. Seeing these adorable hamster pics is making me miss my cutie I had when I was little. He was what the pet store called a teddy bear hamster. He had a ring of long fur around his waist. It looked like a ballet tutu. So, I named him Tutu. I used to let him out to run around the room from time to time, and he loved it. Just had to share that. Love the pics, Amber!

                • awww that is soooo cute!

@ Amber, I know what you mean about guinea pig's being quite vocal. We had one before our cat. It loved my husbun. It would squeek & jump around in excitement whenever he came in the room. It was so cute. I kinda miss that.

                  • Hello, i have two house rabbits, (i live in flats, so can't keep them outside, 'cos they'd get pinched.) One is a 'normal' white femail that i bought from a friend, and one is a black lionhead that i was given. Iv'e had them both 'de-cobbled' to avoid the patter of tiny paws. They both got on fine befor the males opperation but ever since his op they fight something terrable. I don't let them out at the same time anymore, it takes too much time hoovering up all the fur they pull out of each other. If anyone is thinking about a pet, don't think that rabbits are easy. I will have to cut thair nails one of these days, the last time involved running round with a towel and eventually almost sitting on them (one at a time) trying to tease out one paw at a time to trim the nails. But despite the exhustion & scratches & a male bunny hanging by his teeth from my little toe ... they can be a bundle of fun & most of the time i wouldn't swap them for anything.

LOL Bad Bunnies! Tell 'em I said to be nice. Why is it after you told me they hung from your toe, I want one even more. ...but seriously, I hope it's just a phase they are going through & will grow out of it.

Anyways, here is a pic of my kitty. It's been a while since I posted one of my dear Nippy. Enjoy!

                        • this is a poem that i wrote a few months ago..=D enjoy!

                          Through My Eyes

I saw you as a master,
I saw you as a friend.
I was here to please you,
                          till the very end.
                          We played all day.
                          You read and I lay
                          thinking about today,
                          Never so far away.
                          But then one day,
                          I was taken away.
                          Loaded on a bus
                          and sent on my way.
                          Past fields and farms.
                          Miles and miles I went.
                          Far from home,
                          far from your caring arms.
I was locked in a cage,
                          where I could not play.
                          Hardly any water and food
                          was placed for me.
                          I was lashed at constantly
                          for I would not listen,
to the cruel man who took me.
He left me to die in my cage.
                          But one day
                          I saw a way!
                          The way to the world,
                          back to my master.
                          I escaped and ran,
                          Past many streets so cruel,
                          through lovely medows.
My mind set to find you.
                          I never stopped.
                          Nothing could stop me.
                          Not even rain or snow,
                          rocks or thorns.
When I finally wanted to collapse,
                          I heard your soothing voice.
Your soft gentle arms picked me up
                          and carried me home.
                          But then I fell ill
                          and wanted to die.
                          Yet still lived on till
                          I saw your eye.
                          I saw you,
                          you looked at me,
                          I whined and you turned
                          away from me.
The doctors and medics gathered around
                          trying to put me down.
                          I fought back weakly
                          but escaped and followed you.
                          When you turned around
                          I ran towards you.
I kissed you and wagged my tail
                          but only to no avail.
                          You frowned,
                          turned around,
                          left me there
                          on the ground.
You told them to hold me down.
I felt like living once more
To romp and to play forever more,
always with you at your store.
                          But then you tell them
                          that my time has come.
                          Before I could ask, "Why?"
                          You left me to die.
I thought you where my master,
I thought you where my friend.
I thought that you would be with me till the very end

                          • That's a very nice & thoughtful poem. I'm sure all the animal lovers here would agree with me. It's also a sad one - I remember something like that happening to my dog when I was a child & my parents didn't want it anymore so it brought back some memories. I enjoyed reading it a lot - you're a talented writer & thanks for posting!
