I don't know if we have any Atari experts on this board, but both of my 2600 systems are broken. The port for the player 1 controller came loose, and when I opened the console, it looks like the contacts are broken. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

tin foil. Although you have to have surgical skills to do it. Those circuits became brittle at points but altogether they were made fairly well.
From my experience you have to repair the gap and it did work for me in the later models. I personally never tore open a 2600.

The 2600 is pretty basic... I was surprised at how little stuff was inside that big box.
How exactly should I use the foil? Also, the port thingy is completely loose... would it be safe to use superglue to hold it in place?
I thought about trying to solder the connections again, but I'm afraid I'll mess something else up. I have 2 consoles with the same problem, so if I screw one up, I guess I can always try with the other.sigpic

I still own a Sega Genesis. Works pretty well still too, even though it's like 14 years old. I only bought 4 games for it, but I used to rent a lot more games. I brought it back to college with me and it was the hit of the dorm floor. I mostly play video games on my laptop now. I love Morrowind, Fate, and Fable: The Lost Chapters.Never Give Up!
