If you

take out the blue gem and place it where the compass is pointing a drawer opens beneath it.

hammer on block under the cat statue

It doesn't do anything...

I've got the hammer, oil can (used), key (used), and soldering iron (used). I've put the compass and the blue hexagonal gem in the cat statue.
