Lol, that must be it. I broke my mouse a little week ago, so I am using my old one. Otherwise I would have done it way better. (Yeah, right. )

I replayed the game another time (got almost 80000) but I still don't understand what causes the "game over". It remains a mystery to sherlock.

@Adventure You lose one life for every target you miss. I noticed that some of the targets are never actually seen though. I assume they are either off screen or behind the curtain at the top. This seems to happen with the ducks and the targets that go from one side to the other. About half of my misses never appeared on screen when I played. I don't know any way around it though. You either have to fire blindly at the curtain or get lucky and hope that none of them are off screen.
