Wow, almost 2 days and no post. To revive the thread, here's something along the same lines. I'd like the city where you'd find this and the name of the bulb:

Yeah, the thread is awake. Its in Mangum Oklahoma in another fire station and I think its just called "The Bulb"

Perfect, RBS! It's very likely that I'll get to see it in person this summer... my grandmother lives there. Thanks to your original post, I've learned something new about my favorite old-time town.

"The Bulb" was first installed sometime between 1926-1929 and is still going strong today. At one point, the firemen painted parts of it black so they'd be able to sleep at night.
