No to both. Mother of pearl is actually not a stone, but the inner-lining of some mollusk shells.

Lapis is a more pure blue, without so much gold and grey tones. It's also a lot less iridescent than this stone.

No, no, no.

As you can see here, the blue is really a lot less prevalent once it's cut.
