                • Struve Geodetic Arc (Read more about it here http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/1187 )

The Struve Arc is a chain of survey triangulations stretching from Hammerfest in Norway to the Black Sea, through ten countries and over 2,820km. These are points of a survey, carried out between 1816 and 1855 by the astronomer Friedrich Georg Wilhelm Struve, which represented the first accurate measuring of a long segment of a meridian.

It's a wonderful place. I have been there only once but I still remember it. It's like a very big aquarium, but the only difference is that the humans are in the aquarium this time

Situated along Hadrian's wall it is a museum as well as an on-going excavation site. Vistors can even volunteer to work alongside the archaeologists.

                            • Western Wall or Wailing Wall.

The Western Wall or simply The Kotel, is a retaining wall in Jerusalem that dates from the time of the Jewish Second Temple (515 BCE - 70 CE). It is sometimes referred to as the Wailing Wall, or as the al-Buraq Wall, in a mix of English and Arabic. The term "Wailing Wall" can be considered derogatory, as implicit in the phrase is the image of Jews wailing and moaning over the hardships they have endured. The Temple was the most sacred building in Judaism. Herod the Great built vast retaining walls around Mount Moriah, expanding the small, quasi-natural plateau on which the First and Second Temples stood into the wide open spaces of the Temple Mount seen today.

And this one was taken by me when I visited the wall in December
