If you have trendy and comfortable furniture that meets your needs and aesthetic tastes, you would most likely want to keep it and bring it with you to your new home. However, if your old couch is lumpy and worn-out, you'll likely prefer a new one for your new home. So, in order to make a final decision, you must first answer the following critical questions:
1) Is your move local or long-distance?
We should point out that if you're making a local or short-distance transfer, moving your furniture rather than buying new will save you money.
If you're moving cross-country, this is where you can look at other options.
2)Will You Require Storage?
Storage isn't costly in and of itself, but consider how you'll get your belongings to and from the storage facility. By downsizing and purchasing new furniture, you can be able to stop storing large furniture parts.
You could end up hiring a moving container company, which is the most storage-friendly choice.
3) Is it in good overall condition?
It's pointless to relocate an old object just to replace it with a new one a few years later – if a piece of furniture is on its last legs, relocating it isn't worth the money and effort, no matter how functional and useful it is;
4) Will it fit your new home’s layout?
It's important to calculate the doors and available space in your new home, as well as the size of your furniture, to ensure that a particular piece can fit through the doors and into the room where it's meant to go – if it doesn't, you shouldn't bring it with you, no matter how much you like it.
5) The sentimental value of a piece may be the primary factor in your decision whether to move it or not.
