This site has so many people from around the world. It would be great to learn a little about each other's languages, and maybe even chat about this topic a bit. It might even help us to conquer some of those language barriers in the games we play!

Here's a topic to start:

How do you say:"Hi, How are you today" in your native language?

Hoi, hoe gaat het met je vandaag?? This is in Dutch you pronounce the g different, but can't explain how..

Is the "v" in "vandaag" like a "f" sound like engish "father" or is it more like "violin?"I ask b/c it is more like the English "f" in German. I think your "g" is more throaty...I understand b/c German is the same way.

German: Hallo, wie geht es dir heute?

(And for the curious ones here is the Bernese German version: Hallo, wi geits dr h?t?)

nine german for no
ce spanish for yes
pendejo spanish for asshole (i think)
megwetch native american(ojibewa) for thank you
bishiki native american (ojibewa) for buffalo
that's all i can think of right now

Yes "Namaste, aap kaise ho?" is pronounced exactly the way it looks.
I do speak one more Indian language called "Marathi". But I couldn't learn "Sanskrit". It's really tough, just like Hebrew.

I do speak one more Indian language called "Marathi". But I couldn't learn "Sanskrit". It's really tough, just like Hebrew.

There is a very nice person in my Counseling Lab who is from a suburb of New Delhi, India. She too speaks Sanskrit. She told me that it is a very old language. It is neat seeing all the languages all of you smart people speak!

This is the most sacred word in Sanskrit which says "OM". Used a lot during meditaion.

My favorite German phrase is:

Was schauen Sie mich so an?

oder (or)

Vahs shahohayn zeeh meehsh zo ahn?"

Engish translation: Why are you looking at me?

I say this to my Husbandall the time...so now he even knows what it means! lol

What are you looking at would be the same but without the word "mich", lol :-)
