A few dumb questions. Are there any schools in the U.S. that offer degrees in Video game designing? What should I study if I go into this as a career? Does this pay well as a career? Who is hiring, and where are they? Thanks for all your help and advice.

I don't know too much about career planning and up-/downsides of the business, but maybe some of these websites will be helpful to you:
Suite 101 is the go-to source for how-tos, home inspiration, DIY, and other ideas to try. Our team of experts is here to help you improve your home and life.
But maybe there are members with own experience who could give you some first-hand information

I'm not at all in the field you are interested in, but I found this one.
