It happened to me before. It updated, all questions reset to unsolved and I had to start over- fortunately it was after the first 10 chains or so.

Maybe you have accidently unticked the "Only unsolved" checkbox.

Regarding the issues with lost game saves, have you accidently downloaded the latest version (full game package) and replaced your existing TWC folder with it? Because that will erase everything. Instructions for updating the game can be read at the official forum. In short, there is an update zip file (here to v1.04) which contains only one file. When you extract this (and not the full game package!) into your TWC folder, your game is updated and your game saves will remain.

Updating to the latest version is always recommended, if you want to keep submitting your results to the WikiRank Hall Of Fame, as for some older versions, score submission might be disabled at some stage.

Please note that the questions are updated each time you restart the game, regardless of whether you have updated the game itself to the newest version. Current number of questions is 398 and you should see this in the main menu.

Sorry for the confusion due to a bit cumbersome process.

EDIT: Ok, got that one. Now stuck on 14B, the one with unusual musical instruments... I feel silly because I play one very similar to the one in 14A. Do I need a person, a technique, the name of the show?
