Look at the Santa key closely before you use it. On the back it says

14 9 3 5

That spells out

NICE

Use that in the letter code box to get a letter from Santa. When you leave the room you get a second ending.

And the roman numerals aren't working for me on the wall. I think that may be because I haven't found the ruler yet. Any hints on that?

OK. I found out what I was doing wrong.

Everyone was talking about the closet but they actually meant the bookcase.
