E.g. you can

use tooth on skull

combine plunger with hair (if I remember well)

open chest with a key, open cabinet in the cellar with a key

I replayed this game and no items overlapped this time. It just MIGHT have been fixed
I hope it will work better for you if you get a chance to play it again.

Oh no... I'm STILL getting the key overlapping my list
Maybe I should try to get rid of all my keys before picking up extra items

Well this time I was able to refer back to my list although it was hidden behind a key (by clicking on the list someplace away from the key). So I'm finally OUT and I'm really looking forward helping the Shotgun Princess escaping the Goblin Prison next time

The key overlapping the screwdriver is used after having used the screwdriver (if I remember correctly from the first time I played the game). The key overlapping the list was not much of a problem though (just that I couldn't refer back to the list and wasn't sure if I had everything I needed -which was the reason why I restarted the game - only to get my screwdriver locked behind a key the second time round).

I would love to complete this game though so I will try again tomorrow

You are very right. One does use a key after the screwdriver. I am sure you are right that it all happened just like you say. However, I replayed this game and no items overlapped this time. It just MIGHT have been fixed
