How do you use the compass?

Got it It was a bug, didn't work before, after restarting the game it does

After restarting it was easy, everything worked and I was out in couple of minutes and didn't even need any help

just go into the rooms and click on compass, note which way it points.

that was fun and I liked the codes (thanks bib for your post). Only complaint might be that there is only one order in which to play - so things that one tried earlier in the game that didn't work suddenly worked at the end?!

But in real life we lost some mercury in university and we had to close the whole floor for weeks to clean it. It is very toxic.

Not true. I used to play with it all the time. I'm now 50--NO side effects. Much ado about nothing.

2 papers,a hammer,green feather,magic compass,red & blue keys[used],handle[used],screwdriver[used],plier-thingy[used]

I can't figure out how to use the compass

Someone help me here. I have done EVERYTHING except that star thing. I noted the directions (im thinking the black room is floor 1), but I need the yellow key and im thinking that only pops up after you do the star. HELP! I'm so close and yet so far
