As what I said to clar, have you seen these kinds of weird circle-like shape things before, say, on maps? What do they indicate?

The numbers inside those weirdly shaped series of circles are relative (i.e. exact numbers don't matter; just which is a bigger number than the other) measures of that, and correspond to the bed posts.

I don't know how to use the whole "spoiler" thing but...

Go to the first painting and use the rag and thinner on it.
It'll show you numbers. 50, 70, 30, 25...
Greater, Greatest, Great, starting number.
In the shape of a square, from the first bed post by the door,
The first knob you move up twice.
Second knob(the one immediate to the right) you raise all the way.
Third knob(underneath the first) you just move up once.
Then don't touch the last one and the box opens.
