Ok... For anyone stuck on the first room:

You need to get the middle column of the poster with nine dots on it to be white - orange and green at the bottom. When you get it right the room changes colours!

i tried clicking the drain: i just wasnt facing the right wall!
Personally i think thats bad design you should really be able to look at the drain no matter where you're facing...

In the water room, how do you drain the water? and what do the coloured squares mean?

When you are looking at the wave picture click on the drain to look at it and then click the lever to open the drain. Then look at the picture of the wave and keep turning the wheel until the room drains

Once the room is drained the colored squares will make more sense

Look at the four fishes now on the floor... notice how they are different sizes and colors?
