As I remember it took me some clicking around also.

You have to click on the brown thing in the bottom of the closet first (it's piss of the cat and you then need to clean your hands), then it lets you take the key.

I updated my original walkthrough with this step.

I really, really need some help. After typing in the code on the box and pressing the red button, I get nothing. What to do? This is the second time I am stuck on this point. Maybe a bug?
