Tips to get codes
There are a lot of codes used in this game. Some of them can be a bit tricky.

The book on the lower shelf has strange symbols. Closer examination reveals them to be L and R with the left vertical stroke missing. Also notice that the arrow points both ways. This means the code is used twice (once in each direction)
The buttons represent a calendar week. Sunday is red. The book tell you to take two steps from the sun(day) so press the third button. 3 steps back from the moon (Monday) lands us on Friday. Then ahead 2 puts on Sunday.
The clue to this is 2=28 or 29. This means February. On the back of the box is 7X8. So we multiply the number of days in July and August
The clue in the book points to positions on the bookshelf. Notice that the rows of shelves are the same length as the colour on the books on the left.

On the notice board, there is a heart shaped note which tells you to divide the number of balloons by 1234. The hint tells you to find the remainder. There is another clue to this below the game.
