Well, I got another key and got out, but, I never solved the color box puzzle...I resarted and am back to where I left off.

When you put the stone pieces into the box, a light came on for each one. Try turning every square in the color box each color, in succession - all green, all red, all blue. All but three of the squares can turn green, for example, and the others form a 6:

GGG
G--
GGG
G-G
GGG

And so on with the other two colors. That's how you get the number.
