I figured the code out using Wikipedia.

The letters are the names of the era's.
M was the era from 1868 till 1912, so 45 years long, hence the 45
Check the length of the other eras and you have the code for the dresser!

If you don't want to do all the checking:

Not our zodiac, the Chinese zodiac! Look up "twelve earthly branches" in Wikipedia, it should list the animals
