I just ran up the lift with out finishing my plane, getting sledge hammer and I escaped lol

Okay .. I've obviously missed something. I've escaped but haven't even found most of the things other people mentioned. I just kept running up the roller "stairs" and got a message saying I'd escaped. Very strange game.
