Got

bird statue (in place), 4 stones (in place), 2 little statues

Still need to open one chest (with the cat on it) and a locker. Clicked on virtually everything.
Anyone who can help?

Weather .. storm moving up from the south and down from the north - thunder heard - & I've only two stones. May have to come back later *sigh*
score of 295 - poor but done before the wicked weather arrived full blast

Can anyone give me a clue to where the broom is please?

I made it out!
walkthrough down here:

get the rod from behind the column on the right

go to the right, use rod on both the statues in the back, get 2 small statues

click on the figures on the left: make the one the furthest away the smallest, middle on middle size, secret room will open

zoom in on the secret room. Get rid off the web with your rod.
Get shovel and get stone from black hole

zoom out and go to the right twice, use rod on wooden chest, get second stone

go to the first room (with the sphinx) and dig in the piles of sand, get 2 stones

go back to room with wooden chest and locker. Locker is open and has 3rd statue

put birdstatue in the hole in the wall in the room with the boarded up door (zoom in on the hole to put it there)

put stones in opened locker

go to the room with the sphinx, click on the grey shadow behind the chest, get broom.

use the broom on the sphinx

put statues in sphinx, get 5th stone

put 5th stone in place, and out!
