I have tried to use it but I don't know if I'm doing it wrong or in the wrong place because I'm not getting anywhere here.

You need to use it on the panel next to the door. Then you can try numbers, and it tells you if higher or lower. You can try 3 times, then you need to use it again onto the panel. But this way, you can figure out the code (just remember or note down the digits that you've already figured out)
