Placing pegs proved to be difficult.
Finally got it though.
Example

Place the bottom of the peg over the second hole from left and second hole from bottom

once you have all three grids combined the three shades for each color with form on angle (arrow) - put the peg into the square at the outer point of the angle (arrow)

on a 3x3 square - if the grid has the top middle, center and right middle squares colored - the peg would go into the bottom left square
