Good chance of a language issue. I got the matches which is always exciting but alas can't find anything to light up.

ink bottle(used) paint brush (used once), white paper, matches, tiger painted thing.

I have no idea about the kanji code... above the 4 panels it says
"up" -> -> "down" but I have no idea what to do with that.

I figured it out!
