cutter & crowbar

For the code:

Use the pencil on the book. Ignore all the numbers -- the clue is in the shading.

White = use the coloured squares, grey = use the not-coloured squares.

Edit:

I had tried that earlier and had the 8 & 0 reversed, when it didn't work, I assumed that it could not be that simple

Need blue one .. slow but chugging along. Need to check email soon. Need clue for order still.
Gruel is thin easily digested broth made by cooking meal in water or milk. Think cream of wheat - or cooked oatmeal with milk added.
