Before I read all the posts I used the hook and curtain rod to open the attick door and now it's gone so I can't ues the hook to combine with magnet. Does that mean I need to start over?

So I am at the same point as before and I am stuck at the same place. I don't know how to stop the gas for fire place.

edit:

OUT! I had a hard time figuring out how to extinguish fire.

you need to use clothepin (I think that's what it was) on pipe in the basement.

after that it went pretty smoothly.

Yes that was great
It reminds me a lot of the fantastic stuff by pastel games but was unique in its own way.
Took we a while to work out how to stop the fire and open the locker in the basement - doh.
Needed Mistery's hint about the safe code to finish.

Out on my own. Great game, I had a lot going on this weekend, I started this game too many times not to finish it, and I didn't see the save button until this time, LOL

anyone else playing? I can't find the second box of help. It seems like all of the clues are for parts further in the game, and don't want to spoil anything by reading them to see if the nails are mentioned

Ha! Thats what happens when you multitask. I meant second box of nails.
I clicked on the walkthrough option they had and found out I had (stupidly, in my opinion) missed the basement. Once I realized that, everything else worked and I'm out.
