I wouldn't say useless, but unclear, illogical and seemly incorrect. But I guess it's the language barrier. Maybe the translations weren't accurately enough, or maybe we missed some important notes to see the logic.

Also I didn't like that certain spots were only clickable after a certain progress. I.e. the blank paper. I spotted that very early in the game, but since I couldn't grab it, I thought it was nothing.
