How do I open the safe in the room with the card guy and rabbit and how do I get past the card guy?

To open the safe in the wall you have to

a handkerchief hidden between the flowers above the door

To open the door you

2 paintcolours and a watch

Okay, I feel real stupid, I have the door code but no clue on where to put it. I've clicked everywhere on and around the door but I just don't see it.

look at it by selecting it, and using the About Item button, you can click the zoomed potion, and you will be asked if you want to drink it

I'm having an impossible time figuring out the card code for the door that the cats pull up. Have the handle, obviously, but looked over my notes and tried restarting the game, but still can't figure it out.
