Is it out in the "open" or do I need to use something in my inventory to get it?

You need to open the cabinet at the bottom of the dresser. The key is

in the drawer under the stove. You need a two digit code to open it, but the places to click for the numbers is very hard to see.

The code is on the picture.

You found toast? Can you please tell me where it is?

piece of bread on the floor. In toaster view. BARELY noticeable.
