Am stuck going up and down the ladder. It keeps giving me a key and then asking where I could find it. Is the game buggy?

Got as far as you, Rat.... definitely buggy... I think it wants me to find a knife or something to cut a rope?? up and down... refinding the key and congratulating me on the password I quit.

did search for help - nothing. Also tried other passwords like ch81 (upside down), sos, exit, help, emergency ... using given password just seems to lead in circles unless there is a pixel hunt at some point.
