EDIT: Stuck, of course. The knife in my inventory looks very tempting to slash everything in a fit of frustration.

EDIT: Now stuck in a different spot with a different kind of cutting instrument. Presently, slashing away...

Well, you still have stuff in your inventory and there IS another painting...

Game is very buggy. My knife got stuck in middle of screen until I used it and it disappeared. Then the mirror got stuck in the middle of the screen also. Then I couldn't pick up my glass cutter from the inventory so was unable to use it. Had to quit.
