Haha, what a nice title! The word "Baumkuchen" is german, it's a cake you bake often piece by piece and so it grows like a tree (Baum = tree; Kuchen = cake, pie). For me much work and little taste, smells dry. But some love it.
Now let me see the game!

I took long time for the codes, because I treid to combine the wrong hints!!

On the coloured plates are pieces: 1/4 green, 1/3 red; 1/2 blue and 7/8 yellow. All are parts from 8 (paper hint). So your numbers are

right side of plate shelf there is a hint. It seems to be different each game, so note them, p.e. with N; NW and so on. Then go with turn around in this direction and back to North, next dirction and so on.
