Gave up and played other games instead..

It appears the two keys in first room are used there. I can't seem to find a key in the basement but I also found the power cord for the VCR. If I could just figure out what to do next.

The button on the couch cushion (on the furthest left) it says that's weird keep pressing it and it gives you a plug....not sure from there
