Played again, and it looks like the 3-letter puzzle works with any first letter, as long as the last 2 letters are correct.

Started quickly; found remote, opened drawer and then box, placed 2 items and then was stuck.
I played /w 3-letter box and it opened, but I have no idea what the clue was...?

I thought it was WED.

Have batteries and now out.
