L/R clue is nearly impossible to see, if I am looking at the correct clue

Found on 1st round....

4 crayons, battery, train car, camera.

Set stars on box, as per clock.

Now have 1st key.
Now into next room and now have ladder and more clues.

Crayons and height chart.

Now have white knob and now 2nd train car.
I have taken pictures of 2 clues and I know where to use them, but how...?
Oh, I just saw something changed....

Clock.

Now have 3rd train car.
Cute, now have L/R.
Solved birds; now have 3rd key.
Solved sliders; now have stick pictures.
Out...wonderful game!
But wasn't there usually an item we needed to leave with? If so, I didn't find it.
