i'm stuck!

ok here's what i have:

chalk (now broken after writing on chalk board)
orange and green eraser from chalkboard (erased chalkboard with it)
scissors from box behind dark haired child (used to cut leaf and ginseng root and white hair)
leaf(looks like green stick) (used to make handle for paintbrush)
Rubber band(used to bind hairs for paintbrush)
paintbrush(made from white hair, rubberband, and leaf)
blue and white notepad(?) (used to reveal year below painting)
needle from inside broken chalk (used to pierce "X" on chalkboard)
eyeball cut from ginseng root with writing on back

now i understand that i have to paint on the right hand scroll before i can discover the dogs/cats in the boxes, but i can't seem to do that. do i need paint? and where do i get it?

that didn't give me anymore info than i already had.
so what do we do with those number?
the numbers of the cat boxes obviously don't fit.
i know lilli had mentioned something about days of the week...
are we supposed to take the month and year and call the cats "days"
what does that get us?
