And make sure you didn't use a triangle where it was supposed to be a diamond or something? (I did that at first. )

Yes, I got the same numbers and I checked the symbols at least 5 times. I swear I tried that combination, but for some reason it didn't work the first time. Either I made a typo or I didn't pressed the button well enough. Sorry for spreading confusion. (not that you aren't used to that. )

Ok, I'm a bit stuck since I

can't find the match...I have the box.

Can anyone provide a hint?

Oh dear, where did I found the match? Seems my long term memory is better then my short term memory.

Turn out the lights and tape the paper with the arrow on the marked spot on the wall (screen with the dresser). Now use the hammer where the arrow points to and you will get a cookie. Give the cookie to the guinea pig and you will find a match.

EDIT: Replayed the game and edited my spoiler. I forgot a step.

The paper:

It's in the safe that is on top of the wooden box. You have to get the code to the safe to open it and get the paper.

And to put the batteries in the flashlight, just click and hold on the battery, and drop it onto the flashlight icon in your inventory.
