It's not working for a lot of us because of an unsupported character set error, even with the most current versions of IE and Java.
The programmer here didn't include a command to download the Japanese character set if it wasn't installed, which results in an error for most of us. Mistery, since you have probably played every online game ever by now (), it's probable that you have run a Java game from somewhere else that would force the download so you have it now. I'm not sure how anyone else could manually install this so they could play this game as well, but I'll keep you posted if I come up with something.
EDIT: Specifically, I think the file many of us are missing is called charset.jar. It's not even included in the latest versions of Java, so I'm not sure how to get it.

Well! Lets then set an expedition to find the holy charset.jar file! Who will be the Arthur?
anyone got an new game to share?
I don't sleep 'cause I don't want to
Excuse me for not responding to private messages on time
Me, I found it, and why a lot of us don't have it. Now I just need to test and see whether that one file will be sufficient, or if everyone needs to install an older version of Java (1.4).
When I am king, everyone is going to do their game development in Flash. I swear.
Go there to download the charsets.jar file. Unzip it and save it to C:\Program Files\Java\jre[highest number]\lib
For example, when I open up C:\Program Files\Java, I have the following folders: jre1.5_01, jre1.6_1, and jre1.6_02 so I put the file into C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6_02\lib
Once you do that, the file should work immediately. In case anyone's paranoid, the file came directly from Sun (the creators of Java), from an older version of Java that still included this file. It's a 50MB download to get the entire version, so this file should save everyone some time.
Hmmm, well I made a search on my system (also hidden system files) but didn't find charset.jar.
However, two different java add-ons are enabled in IE 7:
svv.dll
npjpi160_02.dll
Still no idea what exactly players are missing
EDIT
Found charsets.jar at the place where nin man said.
