b/c i put the numbers together and it didn't work and then i tryed adding them and that didn't work and i tryed reloading the game it just doesn't work for me unless i'm doing something wrong

The torn piece's numbers go on the left and the book numbers go on the right. So if the torn piece is 1234 and the book is 5678 the password would be 12345678.

As I said though. I believe there is a bug in the game. The password given to you doesn't always work. It changes every game. If that doesn't work you may have to restart the game and try again.
