How did I find out how to do the numbers on the barrel?

I found a mouse and coaxed it out of its hole, but I don't know why I did that.

I have

fish (used), bucket (used), plastic pipe (used), melted candle, matches, 2 hammers, cradle, rope, vase, saw, nails and something like a vase for engine oil(don't know how it's called)

and now i'm stuck..
