Does it actually show you how to work out which colour is 3, which colour is 6 and which colour is 9 or are we supposed to work them out on our own?
I assume that code is used on the pic?
Where is the key used?

Its a magic square. You need to work it out to get the numbers. The key isn't used until the end.
