I have 4 colored candles giving me numbers, a fifth candle gives me a multiplier for one of the 4 (green in my case) I have got a code that shoots me down to the basement automatically. Stuck there.

So if I take the candle from the basement as multiplier I get

the numbers 8, 3 ,5, 9

Either the note, or the writing on the code panel - or both - must contain a further hint

the fireplace note tells me the last number. I shuffled the other 3 until something happened.

The fourth character looks like an

8 which was one of my candles so I used that

I cannot read that note either. Just saw something that looked like a number on mine.

@brain things happen so randomly I can't recall how I opened the trap door downstairs...sorry.

You don't need to have them all lit at the same time, just get the numbers from them.

The numbers I have for the candles:

by color, the cream one is 8, yellow is 3, green is 1, blue is 5. the green one is the basement is 9.

Is this the same for everyone?
