Got it with Angie's hint. Now I'm looking for 2 more balls (orange and yellow/white) and the key to the top drawer.

For the path upstairs

follow the black directions not the red. if you look at the Y's as the bottom part is the hall you are currently in, then you would follow the black part.

I'm still stuck though. I have

cue stick, 9 balls racked on the table with the cue ball, the chalk, the photo, and both notes

No clue what to do next.
