I didn't understand code for 5 digits in fireplace. I tried in order and then tried to copy order and then arranged smallest under smallest of top row ..
didn't work.
Feel really dumb since everyone else seem to understand but me .. So on to another game. Makes no sense to me.

Focus on the bottom row, there are numbers from 1-5.
Now rearrange the columns (top and bottom number together) so that the bottom row is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Then just enter the top numbers into the safe lock

I don't remember the code now but if you look at the bottom row of numbers they go from 1-5 and there are 5 numbers in the code. Just look at the number above 1, and that's your first number, then the number above 2 is your second number etc..

Have there been any explanations

It's hard for people who don't know Chinese, in Chinese, from 1 to 9 is
一(1)，二(2)，三(3)，四(4)，五(5)，六(6)，七(7)，八(8)，九(9)
the equations are relevant to numbers of strokes, for example,

三 has 3 strokes, 四 has 5 strokes, so 三+四=8 strokes
