I suck. Solved the colour code and got

a key (used) and then used the the ONLY item I have found which is

a puzzle piece

That's not quite accurate. I SEE another item (and it looks like it sees me (ha, ha)) but I can't get it.

EDIT: I have redeemed myself. There was that one OTHER view that had the

nippers

and after that it was easy.

RE: The number sequence:

The difference between 7 and 3 is 4 (that is, 2 x 2). The difference between 31 and 15 is 16 (that is, 4 x 4). The difference between 127 and 63 is 64 (that is, 8 x 8). The difference between 511 and 255 is 256 (that is, 16 x 16) . Therefore, the difference between the next number in the series and 1023 must be 1024 (that is, 32 x 32). The answer is 1023 + 1024 = 2047. I betcha there is a fancy mathematical name (theorem) for this series but, hey, I'm only trying to play raoom escape game.

BB - To determine the number code:

Look at the books on the shelf. Each book has two sets of numbers. The bottom number is the top number multiplied by two plus one. The last book's top number is 1023. Code is 1023 X 2 + 1 = 2047

I am stuck with

screwdriver, nippers (used) but still there, key (used) and gone, and blue round thingy (looks like and eye), found and combined two wooden puzzle pieces

But still stuck.

I thought it was a Lifesavor candy. and I see I missed the group. Just 4 items so far. Got the dog out and now finished this .. just needed that view .. Often thats all it takes.

I guess there are a number of different ways to solve the code. i think I did it the most complicated way.

I took the difference between adjacent numbers - for example, 511 minus 127 equals 384. Then, multiplied that difference by 4 to get 1536. Finally, I added the largest number from the initial equation. So that's 1536 plus 511 and you get 2047. The sequence works for all the numbers on the books...like the top row; 15 minus 3 is 12. 12 times 4 is 48. 48 plus 15 is 63, etc. That sure seems more complicated than some explanations above, but I was proud that I figured something out.
