Please can somebody explain the sudoku symbols...for example in one box it may say 5+ or 4/...this is driving me mad!!

How did you work it out though? what does 4x mean? or 1-?....I always have to use a cheat with these puzzles and it would be nice to work it out myself. but thanks for going back in.. i can now complete the game.

do the math but take care you use horizontal as well as vertical on every row 1 ,2 ,3 ,and 4
so 4X means 4X1 ,or 12X= 3X4X1
never two same numbers on the same row

Sorry I still don't get it...i know a number on its own ie: 3 with no symbol means 3 goes in that square..i'm really no good with math...!!

3 without symbol means you have to put 3 there ,it's a nugde so you know you can't put a 3 in that row anymore
i'm not good in math either ,but this you know after a few games

Yes...thats the only bit I understand....so if next to that square with 3 in there is a 48x....what does that mean...?

a hint ...first solve the easy ones ,it's possible you need to use two times a 4 or another number but never in the same row .
now in this case you use for getting 48 2X3X4X2 one 2 top and one 2 bottom left ,they are twice in the math ,but not on same row

5+ means that the numbers in those boxes add up to 5. 4/ means the numbers in those boxes, when divided, equal 4. 3x means the numbers in those boxes, when multiplied, equal 3.

So:

+ is add
- is subtract
x is multiply
/ is divide
