10 items in inventory (7 items used)..need circle and paper clue isn't working; can't seem to find next step...?

Under desk in drawer view.

Now have red key...
Paper numbers had me going for quite awhile...but then I 'saw' it...

1st digit x 4th digit equals center 2 numbers (8405...8x5=40)...then x2.

On balcony; used 2 keys, made coffee and now by elevator...
I have now seen 5 shape clues, not counting the diary, still have cup and SD; trying to figure out 4-digit combo...
I am completely stuck...!
Wrote out my shape clues and poof, the solution was found!

Count all shapes found (not cup) as per cup layout.

Out...tough, but wonderful game!
