Actually, I went looking only to find that is just what another site had said. Honestly, there is no real indication that the Nephew locks her "Again" He just never tells... actually... I believe what it really says is we as the players who are "strangers" release her by reuniting her body parts.
Anyway...

Here is my loose translation of the story (My German is not perfect and the text ran fast so this is what I caught for you):
