how do you solve the 7-day puzzle. I don't see no button anywhere to move the ladder. Please help

I noticed several posts that asked about how to move the ladder in the "library" to work the day of the week puzzle. Would anyone be so kind as to give a hint or 2. There is no apparent button at the top of the ladder. In fact the scene at top of bookshelves looks like several pieces of scenes overlapping one another.
